All his life, Freeman Vines has been looking for a sound. The self-taught luthier has been handcrafting guitars for more than four decades. One day an old white man offered Vines some planks of black walnut wood from a tree that was known as the hanging tree. This book resonates with the ache, wisdom, and beauty that emerged from that artistic pursuit. Published in partnership with Music Makers Relief Foundation.
